Hundreds of Children Receive Gifts at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital’s Children’s Holiday Party

Hundreds of children attended St. John’s Episcopal Hospital’s (SJEH) Children’s Holiday Party at the Rockaway YMCA where they received gifts, participated in face painting and games, and took photos with their favorite super heroes. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the annual event.
Over 800 people (including parents and guardians) attended the festivities.
“It is a great feeling to see the joy this event brought to the children and families,” said Jerry Walsh, Chief Executive Officer. “Our surrounding communities are supportive of the hospital, and this is one of the many ways in which we give back.”
Thousands of toys were generously donated from local organizations including FDNY EMS, the NYPD’s 100th Precinct, the SJEH Auxiliary, hospital staff, the Richard Brodsky Foundation, the Episcopal Churches within the Diocese of Long Island, and other local organizations. Additionally, more than 50 volunteers helped make the event a success including the NYPD, the FDNY, students from the Academy of Medical Tech, SJEH staff and auxiliary members, and many others.
The care SJEH provides to children extends beyond the holiday season. The hospital offers a slew of children’s health services at its Far Rockaway practice location at 495 Beach 20th Street, including general pediatrics; pediatric neonatal services, pediatric endocrinology; pediatric neurology; pediatric pulmonology, and pediatric nutrition.
