Episcopal Health Services Rallies to Support Breast Cancer Awareness
Far Rockaway, New York, November 11, 2025 — Episcopal Health Services (EHS) united team members, community partners and local residents in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month to educate the community, promote early detection, and support research benefiting those affected by the disease.

The initiative began with EHS’ “Real Men Wear Pink” Fashion Show, sponsored by the EHS Organizational Wellness Committee, where ambassadors from across the health system raised funds for the American Cancer Society before taking to the runway to celebrate survivors and honor individuals currently undergoing treatment.

Momentum continued throughout October through sweatshirt purchases by team members and community members, and support of a Pink Treat Sale benefiting the American Cancer Society.
On Oct. 15, EHS’ Population Health team hosted an on-site event to provide community members with mammogram scheduling and breast health education, expanding access to care.
“Early detection saves lives, and timely access to mammography is a critical part of quality care,” said Donald T. Morrish, MD, MMM, Chief Executive Officer at EHS. “Through screening events, education and strong partnerships, we are committed to ensuring that everyone in the Rockaways, Five Towns, and surrounding communities, has access to the breast health care services they need.”
EHS team members also joined local and community partners during two awareness walks — the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk and the eighth annual Trina Williams Far Rockaway Cancer & Domestic Violence Walk on Oct. 19. Their participation helped raise visibility and support for individuals and families affected by breast cancer and domestic violence.

“Every walk, every conversation, and every act of support can make a difference for someone facing cancer or domestic violence,” said Sharika Gordon, Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer at EHS. “We proudly stand with survivors and their families while continuing to raise awareness, foster education and strengthen support services for the communities we serve.”
EHS wrapped up its Breast Cancer Awareness Month activities with Mammoween at the Margaret O. Carpenter Women’s Health Center, where participants received walk-in mammography services and enjoyed giveaways encouraging regular screening.
