Cardiological Imaging and Diagnostics

State-of-the-Art Heart Diagnostic Expertise

The first step toward improved heart health is the accurate diagnosis of symptoms that may indicate cardiovascular disease. Episcopal Health Services’ Cardiology team is committed to the timely detection and treatment of heart conditions, empowering patients to maintain active, fulfilling lives.

Through ongoing evaluation and implementation of advanced cardiovascular imaging technologies, the EHS Cardiology team continues to enhance their ability to diagnose disease in its earliest stages. The approach enables more precise, effective interventions that are thoughtfully tailored to each patient’s overall health and personal goals.

Whether you are experiencing symptoms associated with cardiovascular disease or are proactively monitoring your health following a diagnosis, you can rely on the EHS Cardiology team for comprehensive imaging and expert insights that support long-term heart health. Below is an overview of the diagnostic and cardiac imaging services available.

EKG

An EKG (electrocardiogram) is a quick, painless, and non-invasive test that records the electrical activity of your heart. During the test, small sensors called electrodes are placed on your chest, arms, and legs to measure your heart’s rhythm and detect how fast and evenly it is beating. An EKG can help your cardiologist identify abnormal heart rhythms, signs of a previous heart attack, or other heart conditions that may be causing symptoms such as chest pain, palpitations, dizziness, or shortness of breath.

Echocardiogram

This safe, non-invasive ultrasound examination produces detailed images of the heart that are used to assess cardiac structure and function, evaluate symptoms, support surgical planning and review treatment outcomes. The EHS Cardiology team has extensive experience analyzing these images to identify conditions such as valve leakage, blood clots, inflammation, tumors and heart attack-related damage. Based on their observations, the team will develop an individualized treatment plan that supports and optimizes your cardiovascular health.

Nuclear Stress Test

A nuclear stress test is a safe, non-invasive heart test that helps your cardiologist understand how well blood is flowing to your heart muscle. During the test, a small amount of a radioactive tracer is injected into your bloodstream so a special camera can take detailed pictures of your heart at rest and during stress. The “stress” portion may involve walking on a treadmill or receiving medication that makes your heart work harder if you are unable to exercise. By comparing these images, your doctor can identify blocked or narrowed coronary arteries, evaluate symptoms such as chest pain or shortness of breath, and determine whether parts of the heart have been damaged.

Cardiac CT Scan

This non-invasive imaging technology uses X-rays from multiple angles to produce high-resolution images of the heart, blood vessels, and surrounding structures. The EHS Cardiology team has substantive expertise in interpreting these images, enabling them to identify signs of plaque buildup, calcium deposits, arterial narrowing and blockages associated with heart disease. Based on their findings, they will collaborate closely with each patient to develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs your needs.

Holter Monitoring

A Holter monitor is a small, wearable heart monitor that continuously records your heart’s electrical activity, usually over 24 to 48 hours, while you go about your normal daily routine. This painless, non-invasive test helps your cardiologist detect irregular heart rhythms that may not appear during a standard in-office electrocardiogram (ECG). The monitor is connected to your chest with small adhesive electrodes and captures important information if you experience symptoms such as palpitations, dizziness, shortness of breath, or fainting. By analyzing this data, your doctor can diagnose heart rhythm conditions, evaluate the effectiveness of medications, and determine the best next steps for your care

Mobile Cardiac Telemetry Program

Patient enrolled in this EHS program will receive a small, wearable device that enables continuous, real-time monitoring of their heart rhythms. The data captured by the device are reviewed by EHS’ expert Cardiology team, allowing them to detect abnormal rhythms, establish an accurate diagnosis, and deliver timely, potentially life-changing treatment.
