St. John’s Episcopal Hospital Announces Fire Recovery and Resiliency Fund
Posted on October 8, 2021
On Friday, September 10, 2021, a two-alarm fire raged on the rooftop of St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, causing damage to the roof and the 11 patient floors. As the hospital carries out efforts to rebuild affected areas, you can help by making a donation online at ehs.org/firefund.
Thankfully, there were no injuries, as the FDNY was able to swiftly contain and extinguish the fire. As damage assessments continue and repairs begin, individuals seeking healthcare can continue to receive services at the hospital, and the emergency department remains open.
St. John’s Episcopal Hospital and the St. John’s Medical Group play a key role in providing healthcare to the residents of the densely populated Rockaway, Queens peninsula, which is home to more than 130,000 residents.
“The fire did not set us back, it just gave us the fuel to propel forward as we continue to do the great work we have been doing to support the healthcare needs of our community,” said Jerry Walsh, Chief Executive Officer.
