Episcopal Health Services Welcomes New Executive Leaders
Far Rockaway, New York, June 10, 2024 — Episcopal Health Services (EHS) is pleased to announce the appointments of Dr. Jameela Yusuff, MD, MPH, as Senior Vice President & Chief Medical Officer and Jennifer Newburger, MSEd, RN, CPHQ as Vice President & Chief Quality Officer.
As Senior Vice President & Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Yusuff will work with the EHS leadership team to develop clinical strategies that align with our strategic plan, as well as develop benchmarks and tools to monitor progress in the areas of clinical care, recruitment and retention, business development, service delivery and expansion, finance, workforce planning and team development.
Dr. Yusuff brings nearly 20 years of healthcare experience to EHS. She most recently served as Chief Medical Officer from University Hospital of Brooklyn at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. Prior to that, she was Medical Director of the STAR Program at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, where she advanced from clinician to lead the program.
Dr. Yusuff holds an MD from the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, a master’s in healthcare delivery leadership from Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, a master’s in public health from SUNY DHSU School of Public Health, and a Bachelor of Science from the Sophie David School of Biomedical Education from City College of New York. She is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) and a Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS).
In her role as Vice President & Chief Quality Officer, Ms. Newburger is responsible for leading the overall quality and patient safety initiatives for EHS. This includes cultivating an environment that prioritizes an excellent clinical care delivery, optimal outcomes, and a high-reliability culture.
Ms. Newburger has more than 20 years of healthcare experience, specifically in patient care, quality, and performance improvement roles. Before joining EHS, Ms. Newburger was the Vice President of Corporate Quality Improvement, Safety and Patient Experience at Covenant Health. Prior to that, she held various quality management, performance improvement, and patient experience positions at New York City Health & Hospitals, Northport Veterans Administration Medical Center, St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center and North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System.
Ms. Newburger has a Master of Science in health education from Hofstra University and a Bachelor or Arts in sociology from George Mason University. She is a registered nurse in New York state, a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) through the National Association for Healthcare Quality, and a member of the National Association for Health Quality (NAHQ) and American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).
