St. John’s Episcopal Hospital Earns Reaccreditation from The Joint Commission for High Standards in Patient Care

Far Rockaway, New York, August 7, 2025 — St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, part of Episcopal Health Services, has once again earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Hospital Accreditation – recognition of its continued commitment to safe, high-quality care.
In May 2025, St. John’s underwent a rigorous, unannounced on-site review. During the evaluation, a team of Joint Commission reviewers assessed the hospital’s compliance with standards in key areas including, emergency management, environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership, medication management and more.
“This accreditation is more than a seal of approval – it is a validation of the exceptional, patient-centered care that defines our health system,” said Donald T. Morrish, MD, MMM, Chief Executive Officer of EHS. “Earning this recognition means that we have met – and exceeded – rigorous nationally recognized standards for quality and safety in every area of our patient care, from clinical excellence to operational precision.”
“This achievement reflects the unwavering dedication, expertise, and collaboration of our entire team,” said Karen Paige, MBA, RN, CPHQ, CPPS, CPXP, OCN, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of EHS. “Reaccreditation from The Joint Commission reinforces the fact that we are not only meeting but exceeding national standards in patient safety, clinical excellence, and operational performance. Our deep-rooted commitment to continuous improvement drives everything we do to deliver exceptional care.”
“Quality and safety are key hallmarks at EHS,” said Robert Bloise, Jr., DMSc, MS, PA-C, Chief Quality Officer of EHS. “This reaccreditation confirms that our systems not only meet the highest national benchmarks, but also continue to support ongoing improvements in patient care.”
The Joint Commission’s standards are developed in consultation with health care experts and providers, measurement experts and patients. They are informed by scientific literature and expert consensus to help health care organizations measure, assess and improve performance. The surveyors also conducted onsite observations and interviews.
