St. John’s is proud to be a Baby-Friendly designated hospital. The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative assists hospitals in giving mothers the information, confidence, and skills necessary to successfully initiate and continue breastfeeding their babies and gives special recognition to hospitals that have done so.


Get With The Guidelines®– Stroke is an in-hospital program for improving stroke care by promoting consistent adherence to the latest scientific treatment guidelines. By participating in this American Heart Association program, we help ensure that our patients get treatment that is in line with the latest science.

The Best of the Boro program is a coveted award for Queens’ best businesses. Hundreds of businesses are nominated and thousands of the public vote each year. St. John’s Episcopal has been awarded Best Hospital in Queens since 2020.


St. John’s Episcopal Hospital is rated as a High Performing Hospital by US News & World Report for 2024-2025 in the category of Heart Failure. US News & World Report rates hospitals based on multiple data categories, including patient survival, number of patients treated and more. Hospitals received one of three ratings: high performing, average or below average. Hospitals that earned a high performing rating were significantly better than the national average.


EHS has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a healthcare organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.

St. John’s Episcopal Hospital holds a Silver Certification for Excellence in Person-Centered Care by Planetree International. This certification recognizes the organization’s achievement and innovation in the delivery of person-centered care. The criteria satisfied to achieve Planetree Silver Certification reflects what patients, residents, family members and healthcare professionals in hundreds of focus groups say matters most to them during a healthcare experience.
