Mission Statement

The mission of the Surgical Residency Program at St. John’s is to produce well-educated, high-quality residents who excel in general surgery or can advance to surgical specialty fellowships. Our goals are to train and educate physicians who have clinical skills and humanistic qualities necessary to become well-rounded general surgeons. The training program is a fully ACGME accredited 5-year program that offers 20 positions. Our residency program provides a wealth of clinical and operative experience, a diverse house staff and faculty interested in teaching. Our combined hospitals’ rotating sites are a rich and varied source of patients, illnesses, and care settings, making for comprehensive training. St. John’s entire surgical staff is dedicated to providing surgical residents with educational and clinical opportunities with high patient volume and hands-on experience. The Ambulatory Care Center is very active with practices in General Surgery, ENT, Orthopedics, GYN, Breast Screening, and Thoracic Cardiovascular Surgery. St. John’s Episcopal Hospital is an equal opportunity employer. Please review this information carefully and apply through the Electronic Residency Application Program (ERAS).
