The Episcopal Health Services Behavioral Health Team is available to support patients 24/7. Comprised of highly experienced nurses, social workers, case managers, and psychiatrists, the multidisciplinary team provides care across the full spectrum of mental health needs for patients of all ages. A strong commitment to high-quality, values-driven outpatient, inpatient, and community-based services ensures care that is respectful and responsive to all faiths, traditions, genders, and racial identities. Clinical support peer, and care coordination services are personalized through close collaboration with each patient to support specific needs and treatment goals.

Services that Promote Better Mental Health

EHS delivers a comprehensive continuum of behavioral health services spanning prevention, early intervention and acute care to sustain recovery. Our team treats patients with a wide range of mental health conditions, with programs tailored to the diverse needs of each patient and offered in multiple languages.

Community Mental Health Center Services

Licensed by the New York State Office of Mental Health, the center’s team of social workers and psychiatrists provide a wide range of evidence-based treatments including individual and/or group psychotherapy and medication regimen for children, adolescents and adults. Wellness and Recovery Center Services

Licensed by the New York State Office of Mental Health, the center’s interdisciplinary team of social workers and psychiatrists provides mental health outpatient services such as assessments, therapy and medication-assisted treatment for individuals ages 18 and over. Learn more

Collaborative Care Services

Patients of all ages may receive mental health diagnosis and treatment within the primary care setting. Care is delivered by a multidisciplinary team that includes the patient’s physician, a licensed social worker, and a consulting psychiatrist. Learn more.

Family Peer Support Services

Our team of trained family advocates and peer advocates deliver a comprehensive range of formal and informal support services for families of children and adolescents ages 0 to 21 who are experiencing emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges. Learn more

Healthy Steps Program

Delivered onsite at our pediatric primary care clinic by an interdisciplinary team, this evidence-based program promotes healthy development, learning, and growth among children ages 0 to 3 and their families. Learn more.

Home-Based Crisis Program

This program offers services such as crisis intervention, assessments, family and individual therapy, and referral services in the home to help prevent psychiatric hospitalization for children and adolescents ages 5 to 21. Learn more.

Non-Medicaid Care Coordination Program 

The program’s team of care coordinators provides supports and linkages to community-based services such as mental health treatment and educational assistance to children and adolescents ages 0 to 21 to prevent out-of-home placement for mental illness and emotional disturbances. Learn more

Our approach to mental health services begins with a one-hour intake consultation led by a Behavioral Health social worker. Based on your condition and symptoms, they will refer you to an EHS psychiatrist for a full evaluation so that we can develop a customized treatment plan that achieves your goals.

Our Programs Include

Wellness & Recovery Center

The Wellness & Recovery Center (WRC) is a New York State Office of Mental Health Intensive Outpatient Program for adults 18 and older. Our interdisciplinary team consists of clinical social workers and psychiatrists. Services include Psychosocial and Psychiatric Assessments, individual/group/family collateral psychotherapy sessions, psychopharmacology, and medication-assisted treatment (MAT). It is an ideal track for patients suffering from chronic behavioral health conditions, at risk of hospitalizations, or experiencing first-episode psychosis. The WRC provides mental health services for justice-involved individuals in collaboration with the Office of Mental Hygiene Re-entry Program and Assisted Outpatient Treatment. Our Telehealth certification status, which was granted by the Office of Mental Health Opioid Use Disorder services, has placed us on the list of providers approved to assess and treat opioid use disorders.

Collaborative Care at St. John's Medical Group

Collaborative Care at St. John’s Medical Group Primary Care is embedded within our Primary Care practice, offering children/adolescents and adults the option of having their mild to moderate behavioral health concerns identified and treated within their primary care setting by a team working with their family doctor. All patients are screened at least yearly for depression, substance use, and other behavioral health concerns within the primary care setting. If appropriate, they are also offered individual/family therapy and medication management. The treatment team consists of a licensed social worker, a primary care physician, and a consulting psychiatrist.

Inpatient Psychiatric Services

St. John’s Episcopal Hospital offers inpatient psychiatric services for adults suffering from serious psychiatric illnesses. Our multi-disciplinary teams provide intensive care to patients living with a variety of psychiatric disorders. St. John’s provides a personalized treatment plan for patients with clinically challenging presentations.

Our two inpatient Behavioral Health units are comprised of semi and private rooms. The 18 and 25 bed-units focus on adults and provide behavioral health services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
