St. John's Episcopal Hospital Expands Podiatry Training to Mercy Medical Center

Far Rockaway, NY - - - St. John's Episcopal Hospital is extending its post-graduate training program in podiatry to include Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre, NY. Under the leadership of Lloyd Bardfeld, DPM, Chief of Podiatric Surgery at St. John's, and Director of Podiatric Training Program, eight podiatry residents will train at Mercy Medical Center.

"We are seeking to bring the same successful program at St. John's to Mercy Medical Center and bring patients expert podiatric care in diabetic foot pathology, wound infection management, limb salvage. reconstructive foot surgery and much more," said Dr. Bardfeld. Dr. Bardfeld directs the four-year podiatric training program at St. John's Episcopal Hospital which will have six positions as of July 2012. St. John's also has a podiatric fellowship program in wound healing with four positions. The program is affiliated with the New York College of Podiatric Medicine.

The program at Mercy Medical Centre is expected to expand later in the year.
