Celebrate #GivingTuesday with St. John’s Episcopal Hospital
Posted on November 5, 2018
FAR ROCKAWAY, 2018—Monday, November 5, St. John’s Episcopal Hospital will participate in
#GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that encourages individuals,
communities, and organizations to support philanthropy and celebrate generosity
worldwide.
“We’re excited to participate in
such an engaging movement. #GivingTuesday is about ordinary people coming together
to do extraordinary things. Every gift – big or small – makes a difference,
said Nancy Leghart, Director of Foundation at St. John’s. “Please consider
making an online donation to St. John’s to celebrate #Giving Tuesday. Your gift
is greatly appreciated and will go towards the purchase of a new Giraffe
Incubator Carestation, giving premature babies a chance to survive and thrive.
I can’t think of a better way to start off the holiday season!”
Held on November 27th
this year, #GivingTuesday annually takes place on the Tuesday after
Thanksgiving to inspire people to collaborate to give back in impactful ways to
charities and causes they support. St. John’s is pleased to join the #GivingTuesday
movement for the first time this year with a goal of raising $16,000 from their
generous donors to purchase the new incubator.
“It is rewarding to see how many
organizations and individuals support our hospital throughout the year and even
more gratifying to see how many people take the time to give back to the
community through volunteering and
donating,” said Gerard M. Walsh, CEO of St. John’s Episcopal Hospital.
Founded in 2012 by the 92nd
Street Y—a community and cultural center in New York City—#GivingTuesday
inspired millions of people to give back and support the causes they believe
in. Over $300 million was raised online to benefit a tremendously broad range
of organizations, and much more was given in volunteer hours, donations of food
and clothing, and acts of kindness.
