FAR ROCKAWAY, 2018—Friday, August 3rd, St. John’s Episcopal Hospital hosted its 2nd Annual Community and Back-To-School Wellness Fair which welcomed members of the Five Towns and Rockaway communities. The fair was held on the hospital’s property and included free health screenings, give-a-ways, face painting, and games for attendees. The NYPD provided a rock wall for children to climb and over 50 local organizations distributed information and resources to the public. Also in attendance was FDNY, and in addition, the hospital gave out 1,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to children who were present at the event.
New York City Councilmember Donovan Richards attended the event, where he was able to present the hospital with a check for over $1 million, which will help fund the hospital’s new Labor and Delivery unit.
“We are excited to be able to educate our community members and help our children obtain valuable health and wellness information today,” said St. John’s CEO, Mr. Gerard Walsh. “The hospital’s relationship with our community is extremely important, and we look forward to being able to serve those in need for many years to come.”
St. John’s is proud to serve the community and looks forward to continuing to build relationships throughout Rockaway Peninsula.
