EHS Holds Annual Real Men Wear Pink Fashion Show for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Far Rockaway, New York, October 30, 2023 — EHS kicked off Breast Cancer Awareness Month by organizing their traditional RMWP Fashion Show. Throughout October, EHS organizes multiple events to raise awareness and show support for this vital cause. This year, over 50 male team members became ambassadors for the American Cancer Society’s RMWP initiative, demonstrating their support. They spent several weeks raising money, and on Friday, September 29, RMWP Ambassadors at EHS wore their best pink outfits and walked down the runway for the cause.

Despite the heavy rain, the show went on. The fashion show was moved inside the hospital due to the weather, creating a more intimate event for team members to support their co-workers. The men showcased casual, sports, formal, and beachwear. The DJ provided music to accompany the men on the runway while the guests enjoyed pink drinks during the show.

At the event, team members had the chance to support the inaugural EHS RMWP Calendar, which featured ambassadors dressed in pink and photographed throughout the hospital. The EHS team has raised nearly $13,000 to promote awareness of Breast Cancer. They accomplished this by organizing several events throughout October, with the proceeds supporting Breast Cancer Awareness.

Other events that were planned for the month included “Think Everything Pink,” where all departments in the hospital compete for the best-decorated unit, a “Pink Treat” sale at the hospital’s Blue Wave Café, and “Wear Pink Day” to help spread the word on Breast Cancer Awareness. EHS team members also participated in the Trina Williams Breast Cancer Walk in Far Rockaway and the American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides” Breast Cancer Walk in Jones Beach on October 15. American Cancer Society’s RMWP has raised over $40 million since its inception, which funds a live 24/7 helpline for answers and support, breakthrough breast research, and so much more.
