Far Rockaway, New York, October 3, 2025 — Episcopal Health Services (EHS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dheeraj Khurana, MD, as Chief of Cardiology. In this role, Dr. Khurana will lead the department’s clinical, education and strategic initiatives. He will oversee patient care, ensure the highest quality standards, mentor physicians and students, and drive innovation in cardiovascular services.

His expertise in interventional cardiology and structural heart disease will enhance our clinical capabilities and help expand access to cutting-edge treatments.”

With more than 25 years of experience in structural heart disease, cardiac catheterization, and interventional cardiology, Dr. Khurana joined EHS as an attending physician in March 2025. Previously, he owned and operated a private practice in Hollis, N.Y., providing personalized care to the community for seven years. He also served as an attending physician in the Division of Cardiology at Lenox Hill Heart and Vascular Institute.

Dr. Khurana received his chief fellowship in interventional cardiology and his cardiovascular disease fellowship from Lenox Hill Heart and Vascular Institute in New York. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, and his Internship in General Surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, NY. Prior to coming to the U.S., Dr. Khurana completed a General Surgery Residency at Lady Hardinge Medical College, University of Delhi, India, and earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from University College of Medical Sciences, University of Delhi, India. He has been recognized with multiple honors, including being named Chief Fellow in Interventional

Cardiology at Lenox Hill, receiving the Best Resident Award during his surgical residency, and earning the Quality Coach Fellowship for advancing performance improvement and patient care in New York hospitals.
