Episcopal Health Services Unveils Transformative Brand Update
Far Rockaway, New York, February 29, 2024 — Episcopal Health Services (EHS) is thrilled to announce a significant brand update, marking a pivotal moment in our transformative journey. Our revitalized identity, showcased through an engaging new website and updated health system logos, encapsulates the incredible strides we’ve made over the past years. The rebranding initiative will be supported by a multi-channel advertising campaign designed to reintroduce ourselves as a health system — not just a hospital — and to inform and re-educate area residents about significant changes and service enhancements made within the organization.
“For a long time, we have been looked at as just St. John’s Episcopal Hospital. We need people to understand that we are much more than that,” said Renee Hastick-Motes, Senior Vice President and Chief External Affairs Officer at Episcopal Health Services. “Episcopal Health Services is made up of St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, the multi-specialty St. John’s Medical Group, the St. John’s ICARE Foundation and Innovative Health Partners, our independent provider association.”
The subtle, yet impactful alterations to our logos mirror the remarkable advancements in our services and facilities. We’ve expanded, upgraded, and improved services to enhance the experiences of our patients, families and team members, and we’re just getting started.
“Through the years, we have had our challenges,” said Karen Paige, SVP and Chief Quality Officer at Episcopal Health Services. “The current leadership team and all of our staff has worked hard over the past decade to correct a lot of the issues that existed. As a result, our quality of care has greatly improved, our service offerings have grown and our physical space has been and continues to be updated. While there is still work to be done, we are a far different organization than we were all those years ago. People need to know that.”
As a health system and healthcare partner, Episcopal Health Services is committed to delivering high-quality medical care and resources to patients and community members across all facilities within our health system. Our dedication to those we serve has resulted in many changes within the organization, including the opening of the first comprehensive women’s health center in the Rockaways, featuring the latest technologies, including the only 3D mammography machine on the peninsula. We also implemented a Doula program as part of our OBGYN department and partnered with New York Cancer & Blood Specialists to bring comprehensive oncology services back to the Rockaways. Additionally, we’ve opened a wound care center equipped with two new, state-of-the-art Hyperbaric Chambers, and a Clinical Learning Center, equipped with a cutting-edge simulation lab.
Several renovation projects have also been completed, such as St. John’s Episcopal Hospital’s Emergency Department, which has more than doubled its size and added 18 private treatment rooms, state-of-the-art equipment, and a dedicated Behavioral Health Services wing. The Labor & Delivery suite and hospital lobby have also been refurbished, with the lobby now featuring an outpatient pharmacy, café/gift shop, and reflection room.
And more changes are on the way. In the spring of 2024, our Ambulatory Pavilion will open on Brookhaven Avenue (across the street from the hospital), bringing together many of our services in one convenient, beautiful facility, including a Radiation Oncology Center with state-of-the-art technology such as a PET CT Scan and a Linear Accelerator, an advanced radiotherapy system that delivers powerful cancer treatments with pinpoint accuracy and precision.
Our future plans include a brand new Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum suite, and the refurbishment of every patient floor at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, reinforcing our ongoing commitment to excellence.
As we continue on this transformative journey, our core ICARE values—innovation, compassion, accountability, respect, and empathy—remain at the heart of everything we do.
