Paul J. Kubiak, M.D. appointed as Chief of Orthopedic Surgery

Far Rockaway, New York, October 20, 2023 — St. John’s Episcopal Hospital appointed Paul J. Kubiak, M.D., as the Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital. Dr. Kubiak will revitalize the Orthopedic Surgery program in order to serve better the needs of the Rockaway peninsula and the surrounding communities.

Dr. Kubiak comes to St. John’s with nearly 20 years of experience. He specializes in Sports Medicine, Joint Replacement, Minimally Invasive Surgery, and Alternative Weight Bearing Surfaces. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and the Society of Military Orthopedic Surgeons.

Dr. Kubiak earned his M.D. from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and completed a Residency in Orthopedic Surgery at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center and a Fellowship in Joint Arthroplasty at Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Kubiak has experience working in both hospitals and private practices.

Dr. Kubiak’s appointment is the latest movement in Episcopal Health Services (EHS) launch of its revitalized Orthopedic Surgery and Rehabilitation Program. This initiative is one of the many dynamic and progressive updates that the institution has made in recent years to better serve the Rockaway peninsula and the surrounding communities. The program is a comprehensive and interdisciplinary collaboration, offering the highest quality Orthopedic surgical, rehabilitation, nursing, and case management services to patients with orthopedic needs.

Rehabilitation Services will be spearheaded by the Director of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Services, Jean Simon, DPT. The multidisciplinary team is composed of highly experienced and dedicated providers from multiple key disciplines who will be directly involved in the care and recovery of patients both prior to and following orthopedic procedures.

The Orthopedic and Rehabilitation program is dedicated to offering orthopedic patients the highest quality in acute and outpatient services on the Rockaway peninsula. The team will help each patient navigate through their continuum of care with a unique, detailed, and supportive approach. Each patient is assessed by the team and provided with an individualized plan of care that is tailored to their unique needs and recovery goals. All members will seek to incorporate the highest level in patient education, clinical care, and management with compassion, support, and guidance for both the patient and their family.
