Far Rockaway, New York, June 15, 2023 — St. John’s Medical Group (SJMG) welcomes Dr. Apolinario Mateo as their new medical director. Dr. Mateo comes to SJMG with a wealth of experience and skills, both as a clinician and lead physician in the field of Internal Medicine—his background will prove to be a significant asset to SJMG clinical operations. Dr. Mateo will provide clinical guidance at all SJMG Ambulatory practices and clinics and lead the team to improve quality initiatives and clinical operational workflows.

Dr. Mateo received his medical degree from Ateneo de Davao Medical School in the Philippines. His residency in Internal Medicine was completed at the Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens and was followed by a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
