Resources for Jewish Patients and Visitors

Episcopal Health Services (EHS) is proud to serve as a welcoming hub for individuals of all backgrounds, faiths and cultures. To provide respectful, inclusive care, our providers receive ongoing training in Jewish customs and traditions. This brochure highlights the specialized resources and services EHS offers to support our Jewish community.

Our Services

Kosher Dining

Kosher meals are available to all staff and patients upon request. EHS has a dedicated Kosher microwave in our cafeteria.

Sabbath Elevators

EHS elevators are programmed to stop at every floor on Sabbath from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown.

Pastoral Care

EHS chaplains serve patients, their families, team members, and our broader community. The pastoral care ministry of EHS chaplains can be summarized in three words: presence, interpretation, and prophecy. With deep respect for Jewish traditions, our chaplaincy team offers spiritual support tailored to the needs of Jewish patients and families.

Respite Room

EHS provides a Jewish respite room for patients and families to rest and gather on Jewish customs to ensure culturally appropriate care. This room is open 24/7 and is located in Room CP142 on the first floor of the Hospital.

Achiezer Community Resource Center Partnership

EHS partners with the Achiezer Community Resource Center. The Meals N’ More & Respite Room Food Program ensure all community members hospitalized over Shabbos and major holidays are provided with a Shabbos meal. Food packages include grape juice, challah, main dishes, side dishes, hot kugels with warming bags, cookies, candy, magazines and more.
