Catholic Health Services of Long Island's St. John's Episcopal Hospital — a partner of the Nassau Queens Performing Provider System (NQP) — and the New York Association of Psychiatric Services (NYAPRS) announce a partnership to improve behavioral health patient outcomes in the Rockaways through the Peer Bridger Program.

St. John’s Episcopal Hospital hosted a Children’s Holiday Party on Wednesday, December 20th at the Peninsula Preparatory Academy Charter School on Beach 19th Street in Far Rockaway.

St. John’s Episcopal Hospital celebrated the start of Hanukkah with a menorah lighting ceremony. Staff members, as well as members of the community were invited to attend and participate.

St. John’s Episcopal Hospital hosted its annual Employee Holiday Meal in the hospital’s cafeteria. Employees were treated throughout the day to a delicious meal, music, and desserts. Staff members were served by the hospital’s leadership staff, including St. John’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Raymond Pastore and Vice President of Human Resources, Ms. Sharika Gordon.

St. John’s Episcopal Hospital completed its Adopt-a-Family Program distribution. As participants in this program, patients in need and their families were able to receive holiday gifts thanks to the generosity of donors.

St. John’s Episcopal Hospital hosted their annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and Nativity Blessing at the hospital. The tree and decorations were donated by the hospital’s Medical Executive Committee. Before the tree was lit, attendees were led in prayer by Elder Rashn Staley, Assistant Pastor at the Refuge Church of Christ located on Mott Avenue.

​St. John’s Episcopal Hospital is proud to announce the successful launch of a new registration office located on the second floor of the hospital’s campus. The registration office, which was created through a collaboration between the hospital’s Access Care, Operating Room, and Labor & Delivery departments, will serve patients in the Ambulatory Surgery, Pre-Surgical Testing, and Labor & Delivery Units.

St. John’s Episcopal Hospital hosted a community blood drive on Friday, November 3rd in the hospital’s BOCES Training Center. The hospital’s blood bank partnered with Community Blood Center, an organization that works with healthcare centers around the country to supply patients in need with lifesaving blood.

St. John’s Episcopal Hospital hosted a Halloween event for local school children. Classes from Lucille Rose Daycare and Hebrew Kindergarten, both of Far Rockaway visited the hospital to trick-or-treat, pick pumpkins to bring home, and judge the staff pumpkin decorating contest. The students arrived dressed as superheroes, princesses, police officers, and firefighters.​

St. John’s Episcopal Hospital Awarded With Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award
Friday , July 7th, St. John’s Episcopal Hospital hosted a press conference to announce renovation and expansion scope of work regarding their recently approved NYSDOH Capital Restructuring Financing Program (CRFP) Grant for 10.15M. The hospital’s executive staff, as well as local community members and elected officials, have been working with the New York State Department of Health for over a year, awaiting final approval of the contract to begin construction. The renovation and expansion of the emergency department will double to 22,000 square feet and allow for more space to provide care to patients in the emergency room.

Students from WAVE Prep Elementary School donated baby items to St. John’s for new mothers who deliver at the hospital. The group of twenty students, ranging in grades from Kindergarten to Fifth, presented CEO Jerry Walsh, Dr. Donald Morrish, Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Denise Potts, Director of Maternal Child Health with the items, which included toys, bibs, diapers, blankets, and clothing.

On Wednesday, Mar. 29, in celebration of National Healthcare Information Professionals Week, St. John’s Episcopal Hospital recognized and honored their health information professionals who are crucial to providing quality patient care. These professionals are in charge of handling sensitive patient medical records in order for patients to receive vital hospital services.
All are invited to FREE education sessions on better Diabetes Management. Sessions are led by Stephanie Cordaro RD, CDN , CDE and feature expert healthcare professionals as guest speakers.
