St. John’s Episcopal Hospital Awarded 2018 Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. The award recognizes hospitals who meet specific quality achievement measures for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients at a set level for a designated period.

St. John’s Episcopal Hospital Residents Take Home Presentation Awards. Residents working with St. John’s Episcopal Hospital’s OB-GYN department were awarded for their presentations at the New York State Osteopathic Medical Society’s poster competition.

St. John’s Medical Group invited community members to attend an Open House and Health Fair at the group’s Surgical Services & Adult Medicine practice in Lawrence. The event was attended by hospital and medical group staff, as well as elected officials and community members.

St. John’s Medical Group’s Pediatrics and Adult Medicine Practice received a donation of almost 400 children’s books from local teenager, Lily Cohen. Ms. Cohen worked with her mother Jennifer, who grew up in Far Rockaway, to collect the books from family and friends as part of her Bat Mitzvah charitable project.

Students from WAVE Prep Elementary School donated baby items to St. John’s for new mothers who deliver at the hospital. The group of twenty students, ranging in grades from Kindergarten to Fifth, presented CEO Gerard Walsh and Denise Potts, Director of Maternal Child Health with the items, which included toys, bibs, diapers, blankets, and clothing.

St. John’s Episcopal Hospital was awarded 2nd place at the 8th Annual Nursing Symposium (an 1199 RN Labor Management Initiative). The event was held at the Brooklyn Marriot and included over 300 participants, with a total of 21 presentations entered into competition. St. John’s Telemetry team competed amongst other hospitals that are part of the 1199 Union’s network, including Mount Sinai Beth Israel, New York University, and Jamaica Medical Center.

St. John’s Medical Group Primary Care Offices are proud to announce their reception of Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home Recognition by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. These offices are located at 495 Beach 20th Street, Far Rockaway, 431 Beach 129th Street in Belle Harbor, and 275 Rockaway Turnpike in Lawrence.

St. John’s Episcopal Hospital celebrated the grand re-opening of the hospital’s Wound Care Center. The event was attended by members of the community, hospital staff, and political representatives from the Rockaways.

St. John’s Episcopal Hospital welcomed the hospital’s first baby born in 2018 on New Year’s Day. Ms. Karla Balarezo gave birth to a son, Dylan Gutierrez Balarezo via Caesarian Section at 10:06am on January 1st. Dylan is Karla’s first son, joining his father, Enrico Gutierrez, and sister Karla Abigail Gutierrez.
