Obstetrics/Gynecology
STUDENT CLERKSHIP & PREGNANCY RESEARCH
OB/GYN Student Clerkship
Welcome to your OB/GYN Clerkship at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital! Our OB/GYN provides a comprehensive and unique educational experience with assistance from our academic sponsors Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) and Lake Erie Consortium for Osteopathic Medical Training (LECOMT) as well as ongoing development as guided by the Association of Professors of Gynecology & Obstetrics (APGO).
During this rotation, medical students will participate in a variety of learning experiences, both academic and clinical, to gain medical knowledge, surgical skills, an understanding healthcare topics unique to women, and to experience the flow and function of an OBGYN residency program.
Students are expected to meet (and ideally exceed) requirements and to follow and challenge themselves to be proactive, self-directed, self-motivated learners. It is important that students learn to deliver basic preventive care, apply appropriate screening practices in the ambulatory setting, participate in the prenatal, labor & delivery, and postpartum components of care for pregnant patients as well as be involved in the pre-operative evaluation, operative care, and post-operative care for both pregnant and nonpregnant women who require surgical management.
Please review the resources below to keep up to date on educational materials and procedural information, which are updated regularly:
