Family Practice
The Department of Family Practice at St. John's Episcopal Hospital is a fully recognized specialty with both inpatient and outpatient services. All the department's physicians are board certified family practitioners. The Family Practice program has had a rapid growth and expansion since its inception in 1996 and the hospital-based department is now affiliated with several independent offices and clinics within the community.
Family Practice provides consistent and comprehensive primary care and well care for the individual patient and the entire family. Medical services provided include routine adult internal medicine care, as well as routine pediatric care and gynecological care. In the care of a family practitioner, the whole family can go to one doctor, a family practitioner physician who gets to know and grow with the family. Family practice emphasizes thorough knowledge of the patient in the context of his or her family, as well as his or her community. Additionally, there is a strong emphasis on disease prevention, appropriate screenings and ongoing wellness and health.
