Excellent individualized therapy for adults and children is provided at the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department at St. John's Medical Group. The department's highly qualified and caring staff works together with the patient and the referring physician with the goals of alleviating pain and restoring function and movement.
A Full-Service Program
At St. John's Medical Group, a board-certified physiatrist will develop your goal-oriented and personalized treatment plan. (Physiatry is a branch of medicine that specializes in the functional restoration of those affected by physical disability. A physiatrist must complete four years of medical school, one year of internship and a three-year residency program.)
Treatments include:
- Physical and occupational therapy for adults and children
- Speech therapy including swallow testing
- Pain-relieving injections
- Electro-diagnostic testing
- Orthotic and prosthetic prescription and fitting
Board-Certified Caring Staff
The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation staff is led by a physiatrist certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, who has many years of experience providing a wide range of physical medicine and rehabilitation services. The doctors in the department work with New York State licensed physical, occupational and speech therapists to provide your treatment. The entire team works closely together to coordinate your individualized care.
