Volunteer Services Department Concierge

Department: Guest Relations
Hours: Flexible (minimum 3 hours/day)
Reports To: Department Manager/Patient Experience Officer

Position Overview and Basic Function
The role of the Concierge is to provide a high level of patient centered service by greeting and assist all who enter the facility in a professional and courteous manner. They work alongside the ambassadors and security team to welcome, direct, escort and address questions of patients, visitors and family.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all patients, family and visitors with a warm smile
  • Direct and/or escort people to appropriate areas
  • Provide wheelchair services to ambulatory patients (This does not include family members or friends of patients)
  • Provide clear and accurate answers to basic questions about hospital
  • Be ready to refer or escort people to staff that can respond to questions the volunteer cannot answer
  • Escalate patient and family concerns to ambassadors, nursing staff and patient advocates
  • Report spiritual needs to chaplains
  • Relay information and messages to appropriate personnel
  • Maintain confidentiality

Required Skills

  • Able to speak, read and understand English
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Prompt dependable, conscientious, and diligent in the performance of duties.
  • Good organizational and filing ability with English alphabet.
  • Have a basic knowledge of office etiquette, equipment and or willing to learn
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive
  • Responsible & caring individual who can maintain confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA regulations
