Community Outreach Volunteer Position

Status: Volunteer/Intern (unpaid)
Hours: Varies – Monday through Friday, 9AM-5PM (minimum 3 hours/day), evenings as needed, weekends as needed
Reports To: Department Manager, Population Health

Position Overview and Basic Function
Volunteers will assist the team with community outreach, via in person or through calls, in non-clinical areas of the hospital and in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Perform supportive tasks such as organizing forms; photocopies, scanning, filing and faxing as required or assigned by Supervisor.
  • Conduct telephone outreach calls to obtain additional participants to existing population health programs.
  • Assist with community outreach to engage residents in participating in our programs and events.
  • Support staff by coordinating with operations and Mobile Health Unit Events.
  • Assist with data entry as needed.

Required Skills

  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) Preferred
  • Comfortable working within the Rockaway community.
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Prompt dependable, conscientious, and diligent in the performance of duties.
  • Have a basic knowledge of office etiquette, equipment and or willing to learn
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive
  • Responsible & caring individual who can maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
