Desktop Support Intern

Status: Volunteer/Intern (unpaid)

Location: Far Rockaway, Episcopal Health Services

Positon Overview

We’re seeking a motivated and tech-savvy intern to join our Client Services team as a Desktop Support Intern. In this role, you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience assisting users with everyday technical issues and troubleshooting common problems.

Essential Functions

  • Provide first-line support to end-users via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose basic software and hardware issues related to desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
  • Assist with software installation, configuration, and updates.
  • Reset passwords, manage user accounts, and perform other basic IT tasks.
  • Document technical issues and resolutions within a ticketing system.
  • Learn and adhere to established IT policies and procedures.
  • Participate in knowledge base development to share solutions with colleagues.
  • Assist senior technicians with more complex tasks as you progress.

Qualification/Skills Required

  • Currently enrolled in a computer science, IT, or related program (or recent graduate).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for technology and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in using a computer and common software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Some travel to offsite locations may be required.

Bonus Points for

  • Experience with troubleshooting computer hardware and software.
  • Familiarity with IT ticketing systems.
  • A+ or other relevant IT certifications
