Business Development for Behavioral Health Department Internship

Status: Volunteer/Intern (unpaid)
Hours: 10-20 hours per week, anytime Monday to Friday between 9 am – 4:30 pm
Reports to: Director of Behavioral Health Network Development

Position Overview & Basic Function

The Business Development intern will work closely with the Director of Behavioral Health Network Development and other members of the department. The intern will assist in identifying and cultivating partnerships, collaborations, and funding opportunities to support the goals and initiatives of the Behavioral Health Department, with a specific focus on network development. This position is ideal for someone currently pursuing or who has obtained a degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Psychology, Public Health, or a closely related discipline.

The Behavioral Health Department oversees programs and services related to mental health and wellness, addiction treatment, and community outreach initiatives. The intern will have the opportunity to contribute to various aspects of business development within the department, with a focus on expanding the network of referral sources and maintaining the referral database.

Responsibilities

  • Update the referral database with accurate and up-to-date information on referral sources, including contact details and relevant information.
  • Contact referral sources to establish and maintain relationships, provide updates on services, and explore opportunities for collaboration.
  • Respond to emails from referral sources, answer inquiries, provide information, and coordinate follow-up actions as necessary.
  • Conduct research to identify new referral sources and potential funding opportunities in the behavioral health field.
  • Assist in preparing and sending out correspondence, including letters, emails, and other forms of communication, to referral sources and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, to create and update documents and presentations as needed.

Other Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older and have reliable transportation.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical guidelines related to patient information is essential.
