Public Relations and Development Internship

Status: Volunteer/Intern (unpaid)
Hours: 10-20 hours per week anytime M-F between 9 am – 4:30 pm
Reports to: Director of Foundation

Position Overview & Basic Function
The Public Relations and Development intern works closely with the Director of Foundation and other members of the External Affairs team. The Foundation exists to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward individuals and companies interested in supporting St. John’s Episcopal Hospital. Strongly preferred: someone currently pursuing or who has obtained a degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Fundraising, or a closely related field.

The Foundation oversees fundraising efforts for St. John’s, consisting of

  • The St. John’s Invitational Golf Tournament
  • Individual and Corporate donations
  • Community and Back-to-School Wellness Fair
  • Third Party fundraisers and other events
  • Annual campaigns

The Public Relations and Development intern will

  • Assist with gift acknowledgment, donor database (DonorPerfect) and filing of donations
  • Research and prepare background for individuals, corporations and possible sponsorship/grant applications
  • Assist in sponsorships and in-kind requests (both written and verbal)
  • Research content for and cultivate ideas for email blast content to donors, supporters and the community
  • Coordinate closely with marketing team on social media, collateral and web content regarding fundraising and special events
  • Assist with marketing and logistics of events and fundraising activities
